Jordan is a ceramic artist working in up-state New York. After earning a degree in the Fine Arts, he has spent the last 12 years studying and learning about pottery and ceramics, with the last 8 specific to wood-firing clay. In 2009 Jordan built a community wood kiln that he currently fires his work in. He has always been an object maker, and explores different materials with art and function in mind. For Jordan, the discovery of clay and its soul moved him to become a fuller person. Fire, earth, water and air are the elements that he feels lucky enough to shape when making his art. Jordan believes a potter’s job is to make people drive slower, eat better, listen longer, and become more aware of what is happening in the present around them. His hope for his pieces is that they will find their way into people’s homes and their use will encourage people to search for beauty and contentment.
